‘Sahara City Homes Corporate Cup 09’ a 20-20 Cricket Tournament inaugurated

  • Sixteen Teams are participating in the tournament
  • Opening match played between NABARD and SIDBI at Central Park of Sahara City Homes, Lucknow

Lucknow, March 21, 2009: Second ‘Sahara City Homes Corporate Cup’ a 20-20 Tournament for the executives working in different Corporate at Lucknow is inaugurated today at the cricket ground of Sahara City Homes, Lucknow. The cricket ground is a part of the Central Park Sahara City Homes, Lucknow. The Corporate Cup 09 is a knock-out tournament and the matches will be played only on weekends with 2 matches in a day.

Sahara City Homes Corporate Cup 08’, was won by the Vodafone in a breathtaking final against Tata Motors. This year, sixteen teams from the leading corporate are participating in this amateur Cricket tournament. This includes ICICI Bank, Vodafone, NTPC, Punjab National Bank (PNB), Northern Railways, National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD), Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI) and Central Warehousing Corporation (CWC) in Pool A andHDFC Home Loans,Kingfisher Airlines, Airtel, Tata Motors, Radio Mirchi, Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), Central Excise Custom & service tax and UP Irrigation Department in Pool B.

In the tournament, 16 teams have been divided into two pools of 8 teams each. They will play amongst themselves and the semifinals will be played between the top four teams; with top two teams from each pool. The winning teams will clash for the Corporate Cup 09 in the final.

The opening match was played between NABARD and SIDBI teams, at the Sahara City Homes Cricket Ground, Lucknow. The cricket ground is of national standard and is a part of the central park complex at Sahara City Homes Lucknow Township. The central park complex will include a large multi – disciplinary sports playground, tennis court, volleyball court, swimming pool, skating ring, wave pool, and kids play area. T he central park complex will be equipped with flood lights to provide an option of day and night usage for the residents of Sahara City Homes.

Speaking on the occasion, The Guest of Honour Mr. B L Gupta, Deputy General Manager – Punjab National Bank said “The Corporate Cup tournament is a noble idea considering the stressed work life of corporate & this will give an opportunity to motivate them for healthy and balanced life cycle. To the audience it is a treat to see the hidden skills of these cricketers and further boost their moral.”
